About Me

I’m Salem (he/him), I’m a queer autistic tattoo artist working in the Chicago land area at South Elgin Tattoo Company in the suburbs.

★Tattooing has been my dream job since elementary school and I LOVE my job! I work hard to make my space a welcoming and inclusive environment for people who haven’t always felt safe or welcome in tattoo shops.

★As a queer and disabled person myself, I'm very aware of how marginalized people like LGBTQ+,  disabled folks, POC, and women have often been made to feel othered in modern American tattooing (although the tides are changing now!) so I put a heavy emphasis on inclusivity and clear, friendly communication through the tattooing process from booking to healing.

Some of my favorite things to tattoo are: anime characters (especially shojo, kawaii, guro, ecchi/ero, and BL), color realism, pop culture (especially Neopets, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing), creative realism bruises and injuries, pet portaits, silly weird and strange subjects, and combining anime and realism within the same piece!
